Professor Anthony Esolen of Providence College will deliver this year’s Annual Dante Lecture, titled “Taking Captivity Captive: Dante’s Glorious Liberty of the Children of God”

The event will take place on Wednesday, October 28th at 5:30pm in the Romance Languages Lounge, located on the 3rd floor of 82-90 Wall Street.

Anthony M. Esolen is a professor of English at Providence College and translator of classic works, as well as writer for magazines including the Claremont Review of Books and Touchstone Magazine, of which he is a senior editor. He also writes a column for the Inside Catholic website. In addition to a translation of Dante’s Divine Comedy, Esolen has published translations of other classical texts, including Torquato Tasso’s Jerusalem Delivered (reviewed in Translation and Literature, Sixteenth-Century Journal, and International Journal of the Classical Tradition) and Lucretius’ De Rerum Natura—both published by Johns Hopkins University Press.
