Conversation with Amara Lakhous
Join us for an inspiring conversation with Belal Fadl, one of the Arab world’s most brilliant intellectuals, writers, screenwriters, and journalists.
Born in Cairo and raised in Alexandria, Belal Fadl has built a distinguished career in journalism and has become a leading screenwriter, achieved 16 box office hits and winning a Best Screenplay Award at Egypt’s National Film Festival. His literary achievements include 20 books and a critically acclaimed novel Um Mimi, Mother of Mimi, which was long listed for the Arab Booker Prize in 2022.
An outspoken advocate for political and social reform during the Egyptian revolution, Belal Fadl emerged as a prominent political voice. After facing repression under military rule, he left Egypt in 2014. Now residing in New York City, he continues his creative journey.
