Alexandra Catrickes, Ph.D. 2019
Alexandra is from Philadelphia. After receiving her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania (2003) in creative non-fiction writing, she worked as a writer. In 2006, she received her M.A. in Italian literature from Penn, and then taught Italian language as a lecturer before moving to New Haven. Her interests include the 19th and 20th century novel, melodrama, European film, women writers, and madre addolorata figures.
Dissertation: “Cinematic Melodrama as Historical Mode: Art, Geography, and Hyper-realism in Italian Melodrama Films”
