Greta Pia Parla
Greta is a PhD student in Italian Studies. Before joining Yale, she completed a Double Degree program, obtaining at once a BA in Italian Studies (First Class Honours) from University College London and a Laurea Triennale in Lettere cum laude from Università Ca’ Foscari. Her undergraduate dissertation, which traces the literary, musical, and biographical influences behind Camere separate by Pier Vittorio Tondelli, was awarded the Runner-up Prize in the 2023 edition of the British Italian Society Prize for Undergraduate work. She then completed a MPhil in European, Latin American, and Comparative Literatures and Cultures at the University of Cambridge, graduating with Distinction in 2024. In her Master’s thesis she explores the representation, imagery, and ethical meanings of death in a selection of Italian novels of the second post-war period. At Yale, she aims to further pursue her research interests which mainly center on 20th century Italian Literature, History, and Cinema, with a comparative and interdisciplinary perspective.
