Language Resources

Tutoring Opportunities

The CLS offers foreign language tutoring for Yale students.  Undergraduate students enrolled in foreign language classes can request free one-on-one tutoring with a CLS Tutor.

Tutoring with a CLS Tutor

Yale undergraduates whose teachers confirm their enrollment in a language course may request a CLS Tutor. This tutoring is available for up to ten hours per semester (CLS Tutors are paid by Yale College). To get things started, complete and submit a Request for Tutoring.

Before you begin the tutoring process, please read the Guidelines for Tutees of CLS Tutors.

Once you have submitted a Request, the tutoring program coordinator will confirm your eligibility for tutoring and assign an appropriate tutor to you.

For further information, please contact Minjin Hashbat (minjin.hashbat@yale.edu), Program Administrator, at 432-8504.

English-Italian Language Exchange

An English-Italian language one-on-one exchange with students at the University of Florence. The exchange is a great way to practice Italian and improve language skills in a friendly atmopshere! If you are interested in participating in the online exchange with an Italian student, please contact Dr. Deborah Pellegrino (deborah.pellegrino@yale.edu).

The Academic Strategies Senior Thesis Peer Groups

Designed to help students stay motivated and accountable while working on their senior theses (as a supplement to what the student is already doing with their advisor and the other supports offered by the major). The groups meet regularly throughout the semester to share strategies, support, solidarity, and accountability in the development and writing of the senior thesis. The sessions are facilitated by a senior Academic Strategies Peer Mentor, and offer a combination of group work time (with the support of a Writing Partner during some weeks), group discussion time (a collective sharing of ideas, experiences, current challenges), and advice on working through this process from the earliest stages to the end, in a curriculum developed in part by Yale students in response to their own experiences here, with the support of other faculty members, librarians, and staff.
