My current research project investigates cultural exchanges between Italy and the Global South at the peak of the anticolonial era (late 1950s-early 1970s). It focuses on cinema alongside other cultural forms and media practices, such as photography, exhibitions, television. Currently, I am mostly writing and researching on the collaborative works between Italians and Algerians, including Gillo Pontecorvo’s The Battle of Algiers (1966): on this topic, I am completing a book in English, and I wrote a monograph in Italian. My interests also include industrial and sponsored cinema (particularly oil and cinema), the presence of foreigners in Italy and Italians abroad, the relationship between film and history, and Jewish Italian culture. I wrote and coproduced the film Mister Wonderland (dir. Valerio Ciriaci, 2019), I collaborate with newspapers and magazines, and I also have experience in podcasting.
